On 26th January 1950, our country adopted its constitution and became a fully sovereign nation. Since then, 26th January is celebrated as Republic Day in India. After this day, our country's constitution became a fundamental law and our country became fully independent and democratic. The Constitution, our country's fundamental law, came into power because of the diligence and hard work of men like Mahatma Gandhi and the numerous other freedom fighters who fought and sacrificed their lives. For the independence of our country, many freedom fighters sacrificed their lives. Nearly two and a half years after India gained its independence,  On this day that India became the most populous democracy in the world. That is why, This day is celebrated as Republic Day and it became a national festival of our country.

Republic Day: Its Significance

One of the Republic Day most important symbols is the display of military equipment, the national flag, and military equipment. Moreover, the 26th of January was also designated as Purna Swaraj Day. The official celebration of Independence Day was held for the first time on January 26th, 1930. It was observed until 1947.The new constitution was enacted under the leadership of Dr. BR Ambedkar.

Indian Republic Day celebrations

All government institutions, schools and colleges host the tri-coloured national flag on this day to honour the Constitution of independent India. The event is followed by cultural events in all parts of the country. In India, numerous cultural events commemorate the struggles of India for independence, including the hoisting of the national flag at India Gate by the President of India; the most prestigious parade is held on Rajpath in New Delhi. Other than showing off its military prowess, the parade also promotes India's diverse culture. Martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the country are honored during the parade. The parade is conducted by the Indian President and arranged by the Ministry of Defence. As a result, the brave soldiers are presented with the Paramvir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, and National Flag

India's Prime Minister places a ringlet at India Gate's Amar Jawan Jyoti. The ceremonies continue with the 21-gun salute, national anthem, and hoisting of the national flag. Those who show courage in difficult circumstances, including children and ordinary citizens, also receive an award. During the march-past, the armed forces, police, and National Cadet Corps salute the President of India in military jeeps and the winners of gallantry awards are recognized. This is followed by India's display of its military power. A salute is given to the President of India by the armed forces, police, and National Cadet Corps.
Delhi hosts the biggest celebration of the Republic Day, and millions of people are able to watch the live Webcast of the parade. The event is also broadcast on video-on-demand, so that people can watch it at their convenience after the celebration.
Although on a smaller scale, both state capitals and district headquarters as well as subdivisions, talukas, and panchayats hold celebrations. The flag is also unfurled at the capitals, subdivisions, talukas, and panchayats. After all the celebrations of Republic Day have ended, the Beating the Retreat takes place. On January 29, the third day after Republic Day, the government buildings are beautifully illuminated in glittering lights.
A solo drummer is part of the celebrations (known as the Drummer's Call), followed by the sets marching back to the familiar martial tune Saare Jahan Se Achcha. The National Anthem is sung at 6 pm, wrapping up the Republic Day ceremonies.


We celebrate the Republic Day with pride and dignity in our nation on 26th January, paying respect to the soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for our citizens on this day. India celebrates its first Republic Day with much gusto, and we should remember our forefathers' long struggles for freedom and the transformation of the country into a sovereign nation.
